Vernessa Chuah — ICF-Certified Pregnancy Loss Coach Singapore

Grief is not a problem to be solved.
It is a weight to be gently carried — together.

Whether your loss was recent or carried quietly for years, this coaching space is for you. There is no right way to grieve, no expectation to be anywhere other than exactly where you are. What we build together is a foundation — mind, body, and emotions — so you can move forward without leaving your baby behind.

Both programmes below are designed for you, wherever you are in the world. Sessions can be held in person (Singapore, in a garden, park or beach) or online, at a pace you choose: once a week, twice a month, or once a month.

"People are afraid of tears. They may think — I'm afraid she's going to cry, and I don't know what to do about it." In coaching, tears — and everything they carry — are welcome.

Dr Tong Pei Yein experienced four miscarriages since 2015. After her last loss in March 2022, she reached out to Vernessa Chuah. Through pregnancy loss coaching, she was finally able to articulate her grief, let go of guilt, and find her way back to herself.

"Losing a baby is one of the most profound griefs a human being can carry — yet so often, it is carried in silence."

Every tool is chosen with intention.

Each approach is woven together to support your mind, body and emotions as a whole — because grief lives in all three.

🌿

Both Programmes

Ontological Coaching

A journey on your way of being — not just what you do, but how you see the world. Rooted in the interconnectedness of Body, Emotions and Language, this coaching expands the observer in you, opening new choices and new possibilities. You bring the courage; I walk with you.

🧘

Both Programmes

Mindfulness Practice

Grief can scatter us — pulling us into the past with regret or into the future with fear. Mindfulness practice gently returns you to now: grounding, steadying, and creating a gentler relationship with yourself and your body.

🎨

Both Programmes

Art Journaling

Some feelings resist words. Art journaling creates space to express, release, and honour what lives in you through colour, image and mark-making. No artistic experience needed — only a willingness to show up.

Both Programmes

TRE® — Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises

Your body keeps score. TRE® safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of tremoring that releases deep muscular tension, stress, and trauma stored in the body since birth. By working with the PSOAS system, the nervous system calms, and the body finds its way back to safety.

A space with no pressure, no timeline.

Grief coaching is not therapy — and it is not advice-giving. It is the practice of being fully present with someone in their pain, and gently helping them find their own path through it.

In our sessions, you will never be told to "move on," to "stay strong," or that "everything happens for a reason." You are allowed to feel everything — the anger, the numbness, the love, the longing.

Every emotion is here to tell you something. It shows up in your body. Our goal is not to remove sadness, but to achieve emotional agility — where you can sit with the uncomfortable and move forward when you are ready.

Have a Conversation First →
You are not broken. You do not need to be fixed.

You need someone to sit with you in the dark, hold a light steady, and trust that you know the way out — even when you cannot see it yet.

That is what we do, together.

Your loss matters — at every stage.

This space is for every parent who has experienced pregnancy or infant loss — whether it happened last week or years ago. Whether you've told the world or carried it quietly. Whether you're trying to conceive again or simply trying to breathe.

Miscarriage

Early or late — every loss deserves to be mourned. You don't need to minimise what happened to you.

Stillbirth

You held a whole world in you. The grief of a stillbirth is profound, and it is met here with the fullness it deserves.

Termination for Medical Reasons (TFMR)

A loss made from love — and one of the most isolating grief experiences. You are not alone, and you are not judged.

IVF & Fertility-Related Loss

The grief of failed cycles, lost embryos, and the long road of fertility treatment is real and valid — even when others don't understand.

Infant Loss

Whether your baby lived for hours or months — your love was complete. Your grief deserves the same completeness.

Subsequent Pregnancy Anxiety

Carrying again after loss can feel terrifying. This work helps you reconnect with hope, your body, and yourself.

Why this work exists.

In 2018, Vernessa lost her daughter Violet through Termination for Medical Reasons. What followed was a period of profound grief, isolation, and a desperate search for support that simply didn't exist in Singapore. The question she kept returning to was: why is no one talking about this?

Pregnancy loss is experienced by 1 in 4 pregnancies worldwide — yet it is one of the most silenced grief experiences of our time. Parents are sent home with no support, no map, and often no language for what they're feeling.

"My angel babies guide my work every day. They taught me that vulnerability is not a weakness — it is the doorway to your greatest strength."

In 2021, Vernessa began her training as a pregnancy and infant loss coach — not as a career plan, but because she knew the void that needed filling. Today she supports bereaved parents across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and beyond.

No parent should grieve without a guide.

Vernessa Chuah — Pregnancy Loss Coach Singapore
Vernessa Chuah — Pregnancy and Infant Loss Coach

Southeast Asia's first ICF-certified pregnancy loss & grief coach.

ICF Certified Coach Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist TRE® Practitioner 14+ Years Lived Experience

Vernessa Chuah is Southeast Asia's first ICF-certified pregnancy and infant loss coach, and an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist. She has walked this path personally — through three pregnancy losses, including the loss of her daughter Violet. She began this work in 2021, because she knew what it felt like to search for support and find nothing.

Her approach weaves ontological coaching, somatic body-based practices (TRE®), the evidence-based Grief Recovery Method, art journaling, and trauma-informed care — because healing needs to happen in the mind, the body, and the heart.

Vernessa has been featured on CNA, The Straits Times, Sassy Mama, Mediacorp and Channel NewsAsia. 80% of her clients have successfully carried a pregnancy to birth following their coaching journey (2021–2025).

Words from those who walked this path.

Vernessa's coaching is personal, speaks to my heart and touches the raw points compared to just a generic coaching session. It's like a healing session on top of just a coaching session.

— Michelle

I felt this coaching was different — more personal, as though it was a conversation with a friend. The questions were really good, difficult at times, but they helped me confront my subconscious thoughts and discover new insights.

— L.Y.

I no longer question or blame myself for who I am today, especially for what happened with Una. I celebrate her visit instead. It was bittersweet.

— Arum Dyastari

This is not just a coaching package.
This is a commitment to yourself.

Grief can quietly cost you your relationships, your sense of self, your confidence in your body, and your hope for the future. This investment is in reclaiming those — not by forgetting, but by learning to carry your loss with wholeness and love.

80% of Vernessa's clients have successfully carried a pregnancy to birth after their coaching journey (2021–2025). What you do here matters — not just for now, but for everything that comes after.

A note on subsequent pregnancy

"8 in 10 clients who came to this work during a subsequent pregnancy carried their baby to birth."

Every birth is a miracle. But so is every mother who survives the storm.

This number is not a cold guarantee. It is a reflection of what unfolds when the mind and body can finally rest, out of chronic anxiety and into regulated resilience. It is the result of a co-partnership: your courage, and mine, working together.

If you are carrying a fear that lives in your bones, the kind that makes every scan feel like a countdown, or every quiet hour without a kick feel like a crisis, please know that there is room to change how you move through it.

My work is not about "fixing" your grief. It is about helping you build a container where that grief is held, and courage can grow. It is about teaching your nervous system new rhythms so that your decisions come from steadier ground.

Common questions.

Is coaching the same as therapy or counselling?

Coaching is different from therapy, though they can work well alongside each other.

Coaching holds the belief that you are whole, complete and creative. You already have the answers within you. My role as your coach is to hold an equal, co-partnering space with you. I am not the expert on your life. What I do is shine a light on your blind spots, shift and expand how you see things, and help you become more aware of the choices available to you.

Therapy, by contrast, tends to look back to address unresolved trauma or mental health concerns. It assumes there is something to diagnose and treat, and the therapist takes on more of an expert role.

Coaching focuses on the present and the future. When we do revisit the past, it is to understand where a certain story or belief took root in you, so we can deepen your awareness and move forward. The goal is always to support you in building new possibilities for yourself and the people you love.

If deeper clinical support is needed alongside our work together, I will gently help you explore those options. Both can work together beautifully.

Can sessions be held online?
Yes. Sessions are available both in-person (in a garden, park or beach in Singapore) and online via video call, with sound on. Vernessa works with clients across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and beyond. If you need to reschedule, 48 hours' notice is appreciated. Flexibility is always offered because grief does not follow a schedule.
What is TRE® and is it safe?
TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a somatic body-based practice that safely activates a natural tremoring mechanism in the body to release stress and tension held in the muscles. It is gentle, evidence-informed, and widely used for trauma recovery. Vernessa will complete a brief medical history check before your first TRE® session to ensure it is appropriate for you. Learn more about TRE® →
What is the Grief Recovery Method® (GRM)?
GRM® is an internationally recognised, evidence-based 7-step method to complete the emotional pain of grief. Not just from this loss, but from any grief you carry in your lifetime. It was developed from the groundbreaking work of Thomas Holmes and Richard Rahe (the Holmes-Rahe Stress Scale). It is included in the Kintsugi Journey and gives you practical tools you keep forever.

How do I know which programme to choose?
There is no wrong choice. Both programmes are held with the same depth of care and presence. The Essential Care Journey is a meaningful and complete experience in itself. The Kintsugi Journey goes deeper in time, tools, and somatic work. It is particularly suited for those planning a future pregnancy or carrying grief from multiple losses. If you are still unsure, reach out for a conversation before you decide. There is no pressure.
My loss was a long time ago. Is it too late to seek support?
It is never too late. Grief does not have an expiry date, and unprocessed loss can live quietly in the body and heart for years. Many clients come to this work long after their loss. They find that naming and honouring it, even now, creates profound relief and release. Wherever you are in time, this space is for you.
What happens if I need to reschedule?
Life and grief don't follow a schedule. If you need to move a session, 48 hours' notice is appreciated, though Vernessa will always do her best to find flexibility for you. If you have an emergency or illness, you can reschedule with less notice. The same courtesy goes both ways. If Vernessa ever needs to reschedule, you will hear from her with at least 48 hours' notice.
I am currently seeing a therapist. Can coaching and therapy work together?
Yes, they can complement each other. Coaching and therapy are different. Therapy focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, while coaching holds the belief that you are already whole and focuses on forward movement, awareness and embodied healing. Many clients work with both at the same time. If deeper clinical support is needed alongside coaching, Vernessa will gently help you explore those options together.
